E. T. Ketch am of Dor i I feel it my painful duty to reply to an article in this weeks issue of tiie Graphic, criticising the action of executive committee in letting printing of lie fair catalogues to lowest bidder. I feel that it is duty of our board or committee, to always! act in the direct interest ot the people and we have done so as far as our ability would guide us, in all cases. We are not acting in tiie interest of a few drones, who stop here to sip the sweet of the industrious, bard working people.

It is an old saying that it takes all classes to make a world but I fail to discover that this world would cease to revolve without this class. The readeis of the Graphic know that those are not the people who build up the country or town. The sole object of their existence seems to be 10 stand hack and rind fault with those who put their hand in their pockets and dig up to help every enterprise that tends to build up the country and when a soliciting committee waits on them they always plead povet ty. No wonder theyr are poor.vif, they would get in and tustle ft liiya a dollar to contrihut c.nlw'. Readers, reflect.

people who have helped any of our entei prises? No. actually' retard tho country in which they stop by leeching an existence. The Graphic says the system is wrong and tbit we do not pius'ie the right course and why? Because we do not squander the funds of the district to help maintain this indolent, growling people who corse thecountry because the el. 11 irs do not come rol ling up to them on the street corners. Readers, you are interested in the growth and welfare of your country ns much tisnte I he diiectorsof the 37 tli district.

Have we erred in not awarding the printing of the catalogues to the highest bidder, viz: the Graphic? We have saved lie distiict the diffeience betwen 99 cents per page. Times bid, and $1.20 per page. Graphic bid. Some time ago it was necessary to let the piiming of speed programs The Giaphic hid was $8, Times bid $6 The usual kick come because we bail something more profitable to do than running after this clas of people to tell thorn they are a failure. In their feeble attempt at revenge on the Times fur standing in and doing the work at cost or piobably less, thus showing their public epiritednes-, these people mate the uncalledfor and absolutely f.iLe asettion that we never had a decently pi iuteJ catalogue in this distiict except one and that was piinted in San Luis.

The directors of the association have always been more than pleased with all the wotk done by the Times office arid appreciate the assistance thev have rendered the association in many ways. The Grapluc says Why not adver-ti-ein the arums pipers of the dis-liiot for bids and give them a show to lire? We are not made of money. Our means are limited ami we sent written notices to each of the six pajv-ors in the district at a cost of Tor postage and about six cents for (paper and if we had adeuied through the papers it would have cost tis ot least $18. We saved 99 per cent to the association and aceompli-hed the same end. The kindly feeling of those people towards the directors is highly appreciated, likewise their suggestion of a course to pursue for the benefit of the press and at the expense of the ly La set for in the by as had the.
