Santa Maria Times Sunday, May 24, 1998 A-7 INDONESIA New president pressed for early elections hastened the ouster Thursday of his autocratic predecessor, Suharto. If they have their way, they also will run the 61 -year-old technocrat out of office. They say Habibie, vice president under Suharto, is a crony of the former president and too corrupt to implement far-reaching democratic reform. Possibly setting himself at odds with the new president, who was sworn in the day Suharto quit, the economics and finance minister backed student demands for early parliamentary elections. The transfer of power to Habibie calls for him to serve out Suharto's term until 2003.

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) Two days after he was sworn into President J. Habibie faced mounting pressure for early elections Saturday as students rallied against him and a respected Cabinet minister said a new government was the key to Indonesia's economic recovery. His power base far from secure, Habibie swore in what he dubbed a "reform" Cabinet on Saturday, hours after troops cleared out 2,000 students occupying Parliament in an anti-government protest. McQueen died at her home after a lengthy illness May 20, 1 998. She was born Feb. 20, 1930, in New York City. Mrs. McQueen was a nurse for 44 years, working in hospitals in New York and California.

She was a former resident of Phoenix and Tempe, and Ojai, prior to moving to New Cuyama in 1 989. Survivors include her husband Philip T. McQueen; sons Philip T. McQueen Jr. of Cottondale, and William J.M.

McQueen of New Cuyama; daughters Marianne J. McQueen of Florida, and Melanie S. McQueen of Santa Barbara; and two grandsons. Survivors include her parents Raymond and Luz Hernandez of Santa Maria; sister Carolina Gonzalez of Santa Maria; brother Raymond Hernandez Jr. of Santa Maria; maternal grandmother Maria Ramirez of Las Vegas, Nevada; paternal grandmother Candelaria Hernandez of Bakersfield; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary.

Ted Masigat VETERAN Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary for Ted Masigat, 90, of Santa Maria. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

Rev. Emigdio Herrera will officiate. Burial will be in the Santa Maria Cemetery with full military honors by the American Legion Post 56 and VFW Post 252 1 Mr. Masigat died of natural causes at a local convalescent hospital May 22, 1998. He was bom Nov.

7, 1907 in Laoag, Philippine Islands. Mr. Masigat was a resident of Santa Maria since 1962, formerly of Delano. He served in the United States Army during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the service, he was employed at Vandenberg Air Force Base for 10 years.

Mr. Masigat was one of the founders and past president of the Santa Maria Filipino Community. He helped organize the Santa Maria Filipino Senior Citizens, serving as president. He was involved with the Mussell Senior Center where he was the Santa Maria Brown Bag coordinator. Mr.

Masigat was a member of Santa Maria VFW 2521, Guadalupe American Legion 453, Santa Maria American Legion 56; AARP, Loo-nanon Mutual Aid Association of Santa Maria; St. John Neumann Catholic Church; and former member of the Elks Lodge 1538 in Santa Maria. Survivors include his wife Gloria S. Masigat of Santa Maria; sons Theodore J. Masigat of Los Angeles and Renaldo Masigat of Santa Maria; daughter Faye Montoya of North Hollywood; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Masigat was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Ana Masigat, and great grandson Timothy Joseph Masigat. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.
